After months of speculation, we finally have a clearer idea of when Grand Theft Auto VI is set to arrive. In Take-Two Interactive’s latest earnings call, held on May 16, the company confirmed that the release window for Rockstar’s next big title has been refined to Fall 2025.
While the game never had an officially locked-in release date, prior financial guidance had pointed toward a launch before the end of March 2025, within the company’s Fiscal Year 25. With today’s update, it’s clear that timeline has shifted slightly—meaning an extra wait of around six months.
According to Take-Two:
"Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of calendar 2025 to Fall of calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase."
They also reiterated what most of us in the GTA community already sensed—anticipation for GTA VI is at an all-time high, and expectations are only continuing to grow.
In an interview with Variety, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the new timeline but avoided offering any more specific dates. “I think we’re going to leave it there for now,” he said, adding that any detailed announcements would come directly from Rockstar, in line with their usual approach to handling major releases.
This reconfirms what we've seen time and time again: Rockstar is calling the shots when it comes to marketing and communications, and Take-Two is fully supporting that strategy.
While the wait may be a bit longer than hoped, it’s encouraging to hear that development is progressing and that Rockstar is taking the time needed to ensure GTA VI delivers the kind of experience fans have been waiting for.
